Rural UT Child Dev. – Head Start
Rural Utah Child Development (RUCD) is a comprehensive child development program designed to meet the educational, emotional, social, and health needs of children and families in the Carbon, Emery, Grand, Piute, San Juan, Wayne, Uintah and Sevier counties. Our program focuses on teaching children social competence to increase their success in their present environment and later experiences and responsibilities in school.
RUCD helps prepare children for school by personalizing each child’s goals and assessing their progress throughout the year, identifying areas to help each child achieve success. Families, school staff, and community partners’ work together to provide environments and developmental experiences that promote growth and learning to ensure that all children in RUCD enter school eager and excited to learn.
The Management Team, Center and Home Base Staff work well together to provide strong leadership and support, creating a consistent and quality learning environment. Children and families receive individualized lesson plans, learning experiences and help with personal goals, health and developmental issues and assist with parenting skills. Bussing is provided for children to and from school and nutritious home cooked meals and snacks are offered as part of our quality program.
The program is supported and made possible by the Board of Directors and the Policy Council. The Policy Council is made up of 51% or more of parents who have a child currently enrolled in the program. The hard working group of volunteers meets monthly and approves budgets, policy, hiring and many other administrative functions. The Board of Directors is a seven member group who has the legal and fiscal operation of the program. RUCD is a non-profit organization that is federally funded for Head Start and Early Head Start services. The members of both groups volunteer their time and effort to ensure quality service for the children and families we serve within our program.
